Supersymmetrische Weltmodelle
Lisa Randall (ab Seite 257 in ihrem Buch Warped Passages ...) beschreibt Supersymmetrie und ihre Bedeutung wie folgt:Supersymmetry is a strange new symmetry transformation that interchanges bosons and fermions ... [but is] not yet confirmed for the world around us. Nonetheless, physicists have two major reasons to think that it might exist:
- In a supersymmetric world every elementary particle is paired with another one — its super-
partner — with wich it is interchanged by a supersymmetric transformation of the world's model. - Superstring theory — witch incorporates Supersymmetry — is the only known version of String Theory that has the potential to reproduce the particles of the Standard Model. String theory without
supersymmetry doesn't look as if it could possibly describe our universe.
- Bosonen sind die Quanten, aus denen sich Kraftfelder aufbauen,
- Fermionen aber sind Materie-Teilchen.
